September burgeonings

veggie heavenThings are still humming along in the vegetable garden; that was a lovely surprise.

We’ve just finished a meal that included runner beans, dwarf French beans, brocolli and kale. And herbs galore to garnish the steak.

Two weeks away feels like way too long. But as soon as you are back it is such a wonderful feeling.

It’s warm and sunny and after putting away indoor things I trotted over to the potting shed to see if there was any small four footed creature snoozing in the sun. artur hiding under quinoa

Yes, Artur was in the sunny spot he usually chooses in the afternoon. He raised a head, glared at me and went back to sleeping.

So it will take a bit. But that’s normal. He is at the same time a complicated cat and a simple one.

quinoaAnd right on cue, as I was deadheading cosmos flowers in the potager, he oozed along beside me. Not wanting anything, or demanding attention. But he gave it all away by purring so loudly as he snoozed underneath the quinoa plants that I suspect we will be friends again tomorrow.

There is always too much to take in on the first day. So I’ll end here and just write out my list for the morrow. Busy day ahead. Thank goodness.
