Roadside raid

I was thinking hard about what to put in the huge vase at the front door.  My cosmos aren’t ready, the spirea and snowballs are over. What to do?

And as I was driving back from Valence I turned slowly into our drive and spotted the solution. Wildflowers.  Pink scabious and purple sage growing wild beside the road. And growing tall too which is a bonus.

A few chestnut leaves and some thalictrum and a branch or two of the almost gone aquilegia and I am relieved.  One more thing off the list.
