Last bits

painting labelsRight, I’m up to date. I have diligently written and re-sized and sorted the pictures.   But for some annoying reasons I have a few pictures dangling. No idea which day I did these things, but here they are.

My labels – inspired by Andrew – are done. Most of them are still sitting in the box waiting for me to set them out.   But I have placed a few ready for a proper staking. The orchard ones are vital as I can never remember which one is the nectarine and which the apricot or peach. notes placing labels

village hedge aprilOh, here’s an update of the village hedge. I drove over last week to check on them, water the climbers up against the wall of the municipal shed, and toyed briefly with nicking some spare mulch.   But I chickened out.   Woe betide anyone for doing anything untoward in a rural village. It would be around the houses in no time.

And it’s a shame really as the extra mulch was just shoved aside and will be in the way of the campsite in a week’s time.   But I have to ask the mayor first if I could take it away.

purple wisteriaBack at the house I have opened the kitchen window to let in the scent of the purple wisteria that sits directly below the window. It’s gorgeous as it’s in control and will always be kept small and tidy. Unlike the blowsy and madly ranging white wisteria on the other side of the house. I’m impatient for the guttering man to come and install wider gutters on that side so I can zip up the scaffolding and prune back the plant. Plant? It’s a forest. Ulysse spring

And to finish: a final view of the cherries.   They will be well over by the time I return.   A week of heat means that we had a very short season of gasping with pleasure at the sight of them first thing in the morning.   But hopefully it will only be a few more months when we can gorge on cherries instead. early spring potager
