First figs

first figsThis is one of my favourite milestones: the first figs of the year.   Not from my trees alas, but from Madame Orisette which is almost as good.

I did a fast market visit this morning; mainly to get tomatoes from M. Bois and to give Madame Orisette some roses (she fell and broke her wrist and thumb earlier this year and is only just getting back to the market) and buy her fruit.   I need more apricots for more jam this year.   And for the third week in a row they had apricots.

So I have plenty of jam work ahead of me.   But what I really want to do is keep weeding and maybe strimming. For the first time in a week it’s cool and overcast. No rain, that would be too much to ask for, but good gardening weather nonetheless.
