I never knew that water lilies give off a scent.

This lily in the right hand side of the old washing trough in the courtyard was startling for two reasons: it rarely flowers.

I have the most abundant leaves on this side.   And now that it has I can distinctly smell a sweet, delicate perfume.

A hot evening in a courtyard will help that along. I’m delighted.
