regrowth eucalyptsCarrisbrook before 1I have had the Mt Irvine photographs on my desktop for months. Time to give them an outing.

If you recall, they had a dreadful bushfire roaring through my favourite mountain region in New South Wales last October.

The same week we had our flood. Mid October 2013.

And the garden and home that took the full blast of the fire storm was Carrisbrook.

I hope John and Eleanor don’t mind me posting these pictures.  Here are the before shots of their amazing garden. carrisbrook before 2

Lush and crammed with huge trees as the garden was once a plant nursery. Abandoned for years with many of the trees in their pots escaping into the lush soil of Blue Mountains basalt.

The house has gone. The trees close by have gone.  But what on earth is that dahlia doing blooming and looking very pleased with itself in the middle of all the carnage? dahlia surviving

I’m glad I didn’t visit it straight after the fire when things were all blackened and smoking.

A few months on there are signs of regrowth.
