This will hurt me more than it will hurt you

Ah yes, the mid season destruction of the lawn.   Most people would just give up this year and let it try its best to survive.   If you look at the huge lawn from a certain angle it isn’t that bad.   But boy are there some bald spots.

So girding loins and bracing hard I have done a huge scarifying and raking of a third of the area of the lawn. It looks like the wild boar have had a tug of war party down there.

I’ve had to come indoors for a cup of tea to recuperate and find the boxes of lawn regeneration food and grass seeds.   All the packets expressly forbid any sowing in July or August. But hey, who’s looking at the instructions on the back?   Actually we are going to have a week’s window of rather cool weather, so this is my only chance this year to try and resurrect.

It looks hideous, but it might improve over the next few weeks.
