Willow work

I have cleared away all the lavender from the front door pots; and replaced them with this season’s willow.

We only have one willow tree on this farm; it is a small tree just perched above the top vegetable garden where a spring used to be (naturally).   And I cut it down the ground each autumn to stop it growing too tall and shading the veg.

I like how the colour changes as it ages.   All the branches come from the same source.   Yet this year’s crop is an acid yellow. I could strike cuttings, but who on earth wants to have a forest of willow? One tree (stump) is enough.
