Sunshine and showers

planted lettuceAnd hailstorms. We had it all today. It was mostly overcast with blasts of sunshine that made you stop what you were doing and stand facing the gorgeous warmth.

Warmth is in short supply right now. And there is snow on the hills. So Leslie and Teo probably had a very cold start to their day.

Here is was bearable and almost pleasant as long as you had a rain jacket and extra fleece at hand.

My rain jacket ended up hanging on a stake in the vegetable garden. And my fleece was commandeered by You Know Who.

He took one look at the hail storm we had and raced me back to the potting shed. stolen fleece

And as I was busily potting on my cosmos, extra cabbage, dill and tomatos, Artur had leapt onto my fleece jacket and refused to relinquish.

But I couldn’t begrudge the critter. The gentle sound of purring and then snoring was a lovely accompaniement to indoor work.

Outside I managed to plant out another dozen lettuce (Webb’s Wonder) and some Swiss chard (bright yellow). And mulch the beds with my last four bags of compost.

Oh, and I tied up peas. That’s a lovely sitting down job. I like those.
