Rose petal jam
What a bumper year for roses. I can’t believe how prolific they are right now. The scent in the courtyard is so pervasive.
And naturally what I can’t cut and put into a vase I’m turning into jam. Strawberry and rose petal jam no less. It is my favourite – possibly because it’s the first of the year and I’m not tired of endless jam making just yet.
Nineteen pots of jam so far and I could manage a dozen more before next week. All I need to do is make time to pick the strawberries.

Oh, I wonder if there’s any way one of those pots could make its way to my pantry shelves? You know my latest passion is to treat my guests to freshly baked bittermilk scones…what could be more sumptuous than to top them with a dollop of rose petal jam while I boast about you and your garden? Shameless of me to ask, I know. But I can dream!
