Family zoo

Was there ever a moment without animals today? If I wasn’t dodging leaping cats down on the lower terraces, I was collecting the young stallion from out of the shade garden and taking him back home.

Ulysse was very pleased with himself for escaping and wandering into the garden and munching on some juicy grass.

And he was very placid when I took him back. And didn’t even shriek at the sight of the poor departed Sprite who is now lying on the  asparagus bed. Ah, yes rural life. (I shrieked inside and tried not to look.)

Actually poor Jean Daniel is trying to get someone to take his beloved horse away.   And the man has promised to come for days. And still no activity.   Well, the buzzards are circling a bit now so it’s all getting a bit tense.   There could be some very unwanted scavenging activity indeed tomorrow if he isn’t removed.

Artur was just having a lovely time playing in the long grass on the lower terraces and watching me drag sticks up to the house. Aerobic activity indeed.   I now have a lovely juicy pile of things to chip tomorrow.

But I did manage to break up the chores by digging and hoeing the potager. It is taking shape as I have now planned two whole beds ready for their new reincarnation.

I haven’t been able to photograph them as I tend to finish in the gloaming.   But here’s a nice distracting and soothing shot of all the branches I will chip tomorrow.
