Ear flaps down

christmas eve diggingSurely I won’t be thwarted again?  I was just preparing my list of things to do outdoors when the snow started.   Just flurries, but there is a biting wind out there and storms a coming.

Why I may be forced to paint ceilings indoors if this weather keeps up.   But I’m sure I can find some things to do.   The birds need lots of fat balls in the trees, and the sunflower feeder needs to go out.   That’s a start.   And then I could just keep warm by wheelbarrowing leaf mould up from the lower terrace wire cage and all the way up to the top bank near the potting shed.   That will warm me up.

Actually the digging did all that. Warm work but so much fun. I have done two quadrants, and if Santa allows this little house elf to get outdoors, then I will do the other two tomorrow. dug veggie bed

torrentsWe did have a big chore up at the spring in the afternoon. Too much water is flowing off this mountain. Absolutely gushing out the over flow pipes and all over the place.   So it was on with the digging of trenches, placing of massive amounts of hoses and then diverting the worst of the water away.   Cold and wet but pleased it was done.

Drain workA big freeze is predicted tonight, so there’s a chance we will have a skating rink on the roads in the morning. Must find the key for the basement that houses the big barrel of salt.   We didn’t use it at all last year.
