Crop round up

broad beans upRoundup, the chirpy name for a fantastically powerful weedkiller was on my mind as I typed that.   There are too many weeds in the gravel. But actually I was planning on showing a more positive round up.   The first crops up.

The broad beans both up in the top and bottom vegetable gardens are on their way.   And the peas in the top vegetable garden which I have sown right against the wire fence (a ruse to avoid having to stake anything) are also up.   I didn’t take a picture of them as I have to do a quick hoe between the rows of beans and peas before they are presentable. garlic growing well

But the garlic plants are chirpy.   I put down a mulch just after I planted the cloves, so I think that has helped keep down the worst of the weeds.   Well, for now. Rain is predicted tomorrow so who knows what will romp away.

white currant springThe soft fruit orchard is soft and green.   Apart from one of the blueberry bushes which I had transplanted. Hmm. Hope that doesn’t bode ill. Maybe they are just slow.

There is appropriate blossom in the orchard: is this the apricot or the nectarine? I don’t want to spend time looking up my notes. One day I really must paint labels for the trees there. That way I won’t have similar senior moments. apricot spring

anenomes and sweet peasAnd I must put up the giant net for the pea and bean quadrant of the lower vegetable garden. I don’t want to push my luck with the deer.   These sweet little anenomes might be just the tasty blue treat they have missing from their diet.
