A little Wisconsin adventure
Days ago I promised to write about our visit to River Falls in Wisconsin to see Dan and Katherine’s farm. Sarah and I drove out there last Sunday, (or was it the Sunday before?) travelling from Minneapolis through St Paul and out to Wisconsin.
I am cross that I didn’t manage to take detailed and lavish pictures of Solidago Permaculture Farm while there. But if you look on Facebook and type in their farm name you can see more detail.
I suspect it was because I was just so engrossed in Dan and Katherine’s tour. Our love meeting other members of this small farm tribe. How many more of us have managed to fulfil our dream of buying a small farm and getting stuck into wonderful rural life? That is what D and K have done after years of searching while having an impressively large vegetable garden in town. Which they still tend. That amazed me. This is a couple not shy to get stuck into the hard physical work.
And there is so much to play with here; wide paths through meadows, tree planting on a mass scale, a permaculture vegetable garden to create, wildflowers and herbs to grow in the woods for Katherine’s business.
They had the shiny eyed look of cats who had finally found the cream. I really look forward to seeing how their farm grows and develops over the years. We just need to find an extra hour in Dan’s incredibly busy day to write his blog and send the pics!

Lindy, was great having you visit our farm last week. We enjoyed being around someone as passionate about the land and plants as we are. We hope to return the favor and visit your farm someday. And I will try to start writing more about our journey, although I’ll be hard pressed to match your output!

Dan, thank you so much for your kind words. My output is directly related to the fact I don’t have a full time day job like you! Any photo or notes you write will be a bonus for all of us.
