Small steps

walking to vernouxI wish I could report a huge long day of digging in the garden.  But no. Not yet. There were still Things in the way.  Internet connections, electrician visits, a long walk to pick up the car.  I won’t bore you with the list of chores; I bore myself just reliving the day.

But this was the best bit. To walk to pick up the car required an hour and three quarters striding through the forests and paths around Silhac and eventually to Vernoux.

And the great bit was that it was mostly downhill.  With just a hard pull for the last 20 minutes into town. The car was repaired; but I didn’t even bother to do any shopping. The weather was glorious and I just yearned to get on with my potager. snow removal

So back I zipped.

Artur seems to have forgiven me. But he looked longingly at the potting shed which still resembles an igloo as there was almost a foot of snow above.  So as a kind gesture to cat and plants, I climbed up onto the roof and pulled most of the snow off the polycarbonate roof.  And lovely sunshine poured in.

waiting for snow to meltI didn’t linger. I just grabbed the spade and my string measuring tools and twinkled towards the potager.  The snow has melted just enough for me to be able to dig.   I want to try and get my metre wide paths as neat as possible so I am trying to lay them out with precision.  The moles will probably ruin most of my plans, but one must try.

But I had barely worked on one small path when I heard the sound of a car and up came the electrician. Sigh. I’m delighted to see him of course as he is working on the dog’s breakfast that is our fuse box and circuitry.  But I think I only had five minutes of what I planned today.

Maybe tomorrow will be better. No wait, I have to go to town tomorrow. Sigh. I do a lot of that at the moment.  Here’s hoping that spade can get into some soil for a sneaky hour later in the afternoon.
