Mocked by a mock orange
I take it all back part two: for years I have scoffed and scorned this huge bush at the front drive. All flower and no scent I used to declare. And this week I was looking round for something bold and large for the front hall vase and settled on the mock orange. It won’t smell, I thought, but at least it will be glam.
So I chopped off a few monster branches (with no discernable difference to the huge plant) and added them to the vase. And the discovery? It does have a scent. Faint. But when you put it in a small room in a huge volume it actually does smell. Hurrah.
