Village climbers

St Michel building beforeShining halo.   I have spent the morning (well, late morning) planting climbing shrubs on the wall of the municipal building in the village.   Five plants by the name of Campsis Madame Galen. Vigorous climbers that don’t need to be attached to walls by means of wires.   And if all goes well, the building will be covered by hardy, drought tolerant pretty plants all year.   Miracle cure or what? If the village had the funds they would clad the building in local stone.   But hey, a sixty euro investment in plants, plus my time might just solve the problem. campsis 1

campsis villageThe pictures of the work in progress are hideous.   The place is a building site: rubble, random vehicles, mess.   But I hope I’ve given the green things a suitable start in life.   I just have to make sure I, or Jean Daniel gives them a good soaking every two weeks.   Starting on New Years Day means I don’t have to do any fancy calculations.   Just a bucket of water in the middle and at the end of each month.

And for an encore I cut back the dying flowers on the lavender. Time for lunch. village lavenders
