Vegetable gardens in the Eyrieux Valley
I had to drive out of the mountains today, down to town. And my route takes me beside the Eyrieux River; and through the little villages that cling to the winding road beside it.
Dunière sur Eyrieux, St Fortunat sur Eyrieux, St Laurent du Pape, Beauchastel. I find them quite poetic.
But my mind is less on poetry than agriculure as I drive. I’m always on the lookout for the vegetable gardens that you can see from the road.
It’s a good thing there was very little traffic today. I had to keep stopping to take photos.
They are utterly orderly. And in one of them you can see the manure has been delivered and will be spread out over the soil in spring.
Even the manure piles are tidy and perfectly spaced
Am I sad for thinking that’s an admirable sight?
