Twigging

twiggingSo this is the genteel term we call picking up sticks. That involves a stiff pull uphill into the forest and out with the mighty Ikea bags. And then the scrabble to find sticks suitable for chipping or burning in the fire. Pile up the bags and drag them down the steep paths and onto the track that leads to the parking area near the house.

But most of the time it feels like one is hauling small trees out of the forest and down the mountain.  Twigging. Hah!

And then there is the fun bit of getting ‘done’ by the mites which drop on you from trees. And carefully inspecting yourself to find out if they are tick larvae or just mites. Application of antiseptic ointment. Itch like mad. And yearn for whisky. That’s twigging.

I can’t wait to get this lot chipped and turned into a mighty mulch for the shade garden. Then I will feel all these hours of twigging was worthwhile.
