The terrace bank

valerian julyI won’t be able to do any gardening today, so I thought I should post a few pictures of some flowers.

This is the terrace bank up behind my potting shed.   It’s a work in progress as I don’t water it. So plants have to fend for themselves.   I’m hoping that a lot of plants will self seed from year to year and I can get away with less planting. terrace bank

This is the second flush of flowers on the valerian plants.   And now that I have done some judicious dead heading, I might get a third. Or they will just look less unslightly.

One one of the other terraces are my transplanted agastache plants.   These have moved around a lot in the past few years in search of a final spot.   And this isn’t it. Some of this terrace is in shade from the large oak tree further up the garden.   So only half are flowering happily.   I shall move them again this autumn further along the terrace so they are in full sun, and give the rest of Leslie. agastache

echinacea magnus inflowerThe calamagrostis Karl Foersters are fantastic, very upright and doing their decorative bit.   But so too are the echinaceas this year.   They have never flowered so well.

They bloom right outside the window of my potting shed so I get to enjoy their colour every time I go in and look after my small seedlings.
