Small but perfectly formed

This tiny rose is a delight. It comes from a cutting I stuck last autumn and has survived. We’ve been a week without rain and some rather hefty temperatures. So I have to keep on top of all the small areas of the garden.

And the cuttings are vital to keep moist. These rose cuttings are just alive. And I am obliged to water the soft fruit cuttings every day.   I’m not normally that attentive; but I dont’ want to lose these plants.

It’s so lovely to plonk a bucket of water on these little rose cuttings and be rewarded with a bloom.   In autumn I’ll be able to transplant them into their final place in the courtyard planters. A happy day indeed. Gertrude Jeykll roses from David Austin cost at least £15 a plant. I’m winning.
