Seedlings in the potting shed

1pshed detailMy there has been some busy action in the potting shed this week.  Here is the first view of my bumper early seedling crops.

I have had to put up a trestle table in the centre of the shed to accommodate the crowds.  Mostly brassicas – cabbages and kales – and also lettuce seedlings.

But really it’s a bit of everything here.

And I’ve been able to pot on the sage plants which were just cuttings a month ago.

The only things that aren’t up yet are the courgettes I sowed earlier this week. But it’s warm and bright in there, so I’m positive things will germinate quickly. 1pshed long

I need to sow lots and lots of eragrostis curvula seeds. But I’ve actually run out of small pots for seed sowing.  I need to move a few more plants up a size to free up the plastic trays.  If all goes well I’ll be at it tomorrow.  But I’m very pleased so far.

And note the spaces I have left on the long bench; that’s to give Artur somewhere to snooze without having to resort to squishing my plants.

He was very pleased with himself today; he caught a mole. I might have felt a bit better if it were a mouse. Or a rat. But the mole it was.

All God’s creatures I can hear Dad say; and I did wince when it came into the house in the cat’s mouth.1artur on table

But he was so pleased with his catch. This is an elderly cat and I’m always surprised he can still hunt.

I was less pleased that he chose to crunch up his lunch on the doormat at the front door.  But that look of doting love as he lounged in the sun….
