Santolinas springing into life
It’s a miracle. These plants were almost dead this winter. I don’t even dare to go back and look at the sorry state they were in. But believe me, I was very worried that this main feature of the barn garden would not perform.
Oh ye of little faith.
Look at them now.
I was forced to give them a very radical prune, but the new growth has hidden the dead branches underneath. They are very fluffy. And I am determined to keep a closer eye on them.
It may seem cruel, but I won’t let them flower as I fear they will make the fragile lush growth too top heavy for the mounds of santolina.
So if all goes well I will have saved this entire part of the garden from an ignominious design disaster.
