Pencil cypresses
My, haven’t you had a growth spurt.
I swear I have walked past this particular plant in the garden about eight times every single day for years and year and never really noticed what a beast it has become.
It is so polite. So undemanding.
I often give it a pat when I go past.
But I rarely look up.
And it was only when I leant a rake against it this week did I notice it seems to be more than two metres tall.
And yes I did go back to see when I planted it.
January 2018.
Totem cypress. Eight euros. What a fab investment.
I have lost a few to drought in recent years.
But the ones that have stuck (and we don’t count the ones that caught fire!) never get watered.
Good drought tolerant beasts.
