Mowing season
Plants and the gardens really are my thing.

But I have linked so many of these different parts of the garden what you might call lawns.
Or I would call wild boar soft play areas.
They created so much damage on my favourite long terrace this winter.
But with assiduous work pushing back the churned up mess and re-sowing seeds, it is almost back to its best.

I’m ignoring the terraces further down the mountain. The bore and wild deer can have those.
I have done just two cuts. And that should be fine for now. The one drawback with my fantastic lithium powered mower is that it struggles with really long grass.
And I will do anything to avoid having to use the heavy machinery strimmer / whipper snipper on such large areas of grass.

And by mowing now so early in April I can get ahead of the dreaded periwinkle / vinca / pervanche.
It is certainly a weed here. Along with self seeded cherries, chestnut and oak saplings, brambles and mullein / verbascum.

Luckily there are plenty of wildflowers (and some random narcissus Thalia) in among the edges to make it a pleasing sight.
And for the orchard and the lawn it’s just a closer cut to make it look almost like a sward.

Up close of course, it’s another matter. But for now it looks like I’m on the winning side.

And in the sunshine there is nothing finer than a good long walk. Getting a good close up of all the areas I’m still yet to weed.
