June flower bouquets

The glorious roses are going, going gone.

In their place? Wonderful inky dark red snap dragons. I think these are Antirrhinum ‘Liberty Crimson’ which I grew from seed last year. Two are really thriving in the cool shade of a raised bed. But one is currently enduring sun scorching in a more exposed part of the garden. I need to be kind and lift it soon. Because these are perennials.

Also going well? Alliums.

I went for some simple bouquets this month as I was incredibly busy and it’s the time of year when you have to walk a long way from the cutting garden to get your fillers.

I love the pale green balotta pseudodictamnus foliage.

But it requires plodding all the way down to the orchard to cut the new growth.

They are so soft and fluffy. And a good contrast to the raspy verbena and statice. That’s the vibrant blue you can see in among the lychnis and pale agastache.

I will show you the wonderful Dianthus carthusianorum plants in the terrace behind the potting shed. They had a wonderful spring. Really putting on the show.
