Fast food
Here is a typical selection of my daily foray into the vegetable garden.
Basil, courgettes, green beans, strawberries.
All the food groups. I find that the basil takes an age to take off at our altitude.
Or maybe with my technique. I sow, I wait, I despair, I resow, I get results. But the plants really don’t get into fat growth until late August or September.
Beans, endless beans. What a fabulous crop. I get a greater yield from dwarf French beans rather than climbing beans here. And this year – wow, strawberry heaven. I’ve never harvested this late and so often. And I must confess that many strawberries are popped straight into my mouth, rather than reaching the kitchen. Slightly warm, juicy, and flavoursome. You can’t beat them.
