Early peas
Well this is not what I planned: but I had to plant out my sweet peas. These are the ones that germinated back in October on the path of the potager. I plucked them out, potted them into special pea pots (root trainers), and left them in the potting shed over winter.
They are lush and lovely and I can’t keep pinching them out. I was moving lots of other pots in the shed this afternoon and I realised that their roots are pushing through. Time to act.
So out came the bean poles, and in they have gone. I have way too many – and would much rather have them in other areas… but I’m not ready. I can barely remember what my crop rotation is in this vergetable garden this year, let alone know exactly where the spare sweet peas should go.
I was playing with all sorts of different plants this morning: I drove back down to Pepiniere Vachon to pick up the plants for the village. I bought the usual suspects: cotoneaster, ligustrum, carpinus, cornus, laurus, elaeagnus, sambuscus, photinia and then snuck three box balls into the mix as well. They were eight euros each, so in the world of decorative box a bit of a bargain.
I have no idea where I’m going to plant them, but I’d love to redo the big bed at the entrance to the house under the wisteria. It’s a bit manky. But I require a small wall for that and the wall builder is busy with his own huge market garden this week.
