Early peas

sweet peasWell this is not what I planned: but I had to plant out my sweet peas.   These are the ones that germinated back in October on the path of the potager.   I plucked them out, potted them into special pea pots (root trainers), and left them in the potting shed over winter.

They are lush and lovely and I can’t keep pinching them out.   I was moving lots of other pots in the shed this afternoon and I realised that their roots are pushing through. Time to act.

So out came the bean poles, and in they have gone.   I have way too many – and would much rather have them in other areas… but I’m not ready.   I can barely remember what my crop rotation is in this vergetable garden this year, let alone know exactly where the spare sweet peas should go.

car loadI was playing with all sorts of different plants this morning: I drove back down to Pepiniere Vachon to pick up the plants for the village. I bought the usual suspects: cotoneaster, ligustrum, carpinus, cornus, laurus, elaeagnus, sambuscus, photinia and then snuck three box balls into the mix as well. They were eight euros each, so in the world of decorative box a bit of a bargain. hedge plants

Box ballsI have no idea where I’m going to plant them, but I’d love to redo the big bed at the entrance to the house under the wisteria. It’s a bit manky.   But I require a small wall for that and the wall builder is busy with his own huge market garden this week.
