Digging out brambles on the rocks

I was so keen to start this little job that I forgot to take a Before Shot. Which is a shame as it was a right mess.

I have been ignoring this part of the garden for months; which is amazing as it is the very first thing you see when you come up the drive.

Here is the imposing house and here are the rocks on which the house sits. Granite of course.

And out of the fissures grow brambles and a very annoying clematis that grows wild here. It barely flowers and is not a feature of any garden as it just sends out long tendrils and has roots that are almost impossible to shift.

I leapt in with all my toys: rake, broom, secateurs, kneelers, wheelbarrow.

And in just a few hours it was done. That’s a satisfying little project for a Sunday. And I even managed to grub out lots of roots which were hiding in the gaps between the granite.

If I’m attentive then I can swoop on the little blighters in spring if any roots remain. Please remind me.
