Carthusian pinks in a meadow

I love these plants.

Wonderful Dianthus carthusianorum. I rarely manage to spell it. But boy they do a great job. They self seed. They throw up fabulous tall flowering spikes. They look great en masse, or even in small clumps. They even go to seed well.

I don’t cut back hard, but in a kinder climate (oh wouldn’t that be wonderful) they might flower longer.

I am trying to reduce the varieties of plants here in this bank. And whenever there is a gap, in goes a pink.

It’s fab for cut flowers as they are so tall and stiff.

And they were the first things I snapped when I got my new phone. Yes, yes, playing with the filters really messed up the reality. But I am fast learning the difference between Insta lifestyle vs Real Life. Especially in this blasted heat.

Coming this month … little photo essays that make this farming / gardening lark look gorgeous.

But in the same way you really shouldn’t walk bleary eyed and barefoot to the front door early in the morning..

You may step on a toad.
