Winter flowers

japenase quinceNow you don’t think I could have passed up the chance to nab some of those flowering Japanese quinces did you?

Here they are in the vases.

Actually the main picture one is at our neighbour’s house. It’s kind of me to fill their house with flowers. But after all, the branches belong to them.

I was mooching up at the house yesterday – returning cat food for their imminent return – when I spied some lovely flowering Japanese quince bushes in the bramble thicket that is their garden.

Out came the secateurs – always in the back pocket – and I had a dozen branches in no time. Enough for me and for them.

You could call me a travelling florist. Or a friendly neighbourhood flower looter.
