Winter chill

Ah yes, that old typing with fingerless gloves in front of the fire with an overcoat on. Indoors.   I love it.   I have returned to the Ardeche after ten days away.   And boy has it frozen since my last trip.   There is a ground frost, some last traces of snow on the potager ground, and everything is cold.

I’ve managed to crank the new central heating boiler to life (easy peasy) and lit a roaring fire (easier still).   But I did check and find out it is only 12C in this house.   That’s three foot thick stone walls for you.   Fetching but bracing if you don’t keep up the heating.

But give it a day or so it will be warm again.   My first job tomorrow will be to have a huge stock up of the firewood here in the living room.   And then don most of my clothing and head out into the chill.
