Tray thief

squished 2I really, really need these trays.

But Artur nabbed them first. I spent a few hours in the potting shed this afternoon and while I was potting on the zillions of kale and cabbage and spinach and chard seedlings, I was entertained by the sound of Artur’s gentle snores in the background.

I’ll have to get into the building early tomorrow and try and remove them from his favourite snooze spot before he does.. squished

I don’t have the heart to move him once he has settled in.  I actually wondered if he was able to do the big leap onto the staging table which is waist high.

But I watched him in action, the clever cat. He climbs under the table, and then climbs up a small step ladder that is stored nearby. And then he ducks under a window frame and oozes onto the table. One look at the tray, a bit of a twist to actually fit into the small space and he’s set.

cabbages and catAnd he isn’t fussed if I work close to him.  I am running out of room as I have so many scented pelargoniums still indoors, plus the kangaroo paws which I can’t bear to leave outside for fear of dying of thirst or neglect or slugs.

But there is room enough for these cabbage seedlings.  And the newly germinated eragrostis seeds.

How many days between sewing and germination? Two. eragrostis germinated

Yep. You have to love ornamental grasses. I have now sown five trays which I hope to be able to grow on well enough that I can plant out in October. Or overwinter in my cold frame.
