Thwarted

potager snowAh, the great plan to get down and dirty in the potager today is going to prove problematic.

Boy have we had a heavy snow fall this week.

I only came in at the end of the storm and after the snow plough has cleared the road.

And the great snow plough event is always memorable. Our mayor drives the snow plough with tremendous enthusiasm; but I bet he was a kid who didn’t colour in his pictures between the lines. He is a very wonky plougher.  So that means a lot of the verges get well scalped.

I won’t be able to assess the damage until it thaws, but it looks pretty bad.  There are narcissus Thalia bulbs under that verge.  And there will have to be a lot of jucicious driving to try and flatten down the huge divets and lumps.

But on the agenda first up – keeping warm. Going to town to buy bread and visit the butcher’s and catch up on the news.

001And hours and hours later it’s Thwarted Two. I never did make it to town. The car wouldn’t start.  I had many helpers trying to get it going, but in the end it went onto the break down truck and to Vernoux. Wither I did not.

Instead I stayed mostly indoors and painted the new drinks trolley. The snow is melting but not fast enough. Frustrated. Cross. Resigned.
