New Year Tidy

A tidy forest.   Well, in parts.   The day dawned rather damp and even wet.   So I am afraid that it was a slow kick off today.

I don’t think I even went outdoors until 11am (Artur waiting patiently in the potting shed in a box).   But I did manage to bake two pear and chocolate cakes and a huge batch of flap jacks.   Plus a rather healthy lunch.

But we made up for our slothful start with a spot of stick collecting. I had planned to go all the way down to the letter box and launch into the forest below the road.   But there was no need.

Heaps and heaps of sticks along the drive were perfect for bundling and dragging. And shoving into the car.

I am so, so pleased. Tomorrow it will be a noisy chipping and spreading of the lovely old mulch onto the rest of the shade garden and the rest of the soft fruit orchard.

That feels wonderfully productive, even with just a few hours’ work.
