Is it worth it?

white currant jamThree measly jars.  One kilogram of white currants and what do I get? Three measly jars.

The white currants (which are actually pink because they are so ripe having been left on the bushes two weeks longer than I normally leave them) are abundant this year.

I have kilos and kilos of them from just my first evening picking.  Some I will turn into cordial, but I wanted to try my hand at jam.

I usually mix them jostaberries with the white currants but decided to try them on their own.  The only trouble is the abundance of seeds.  Each little orb of fruit seems to have half a dozen.

But I read (on the internet, now there’s a surprise) how someone puts the fruit through the blender first and then a seive, and then adds the sugar.

I did as suggested, but one kilogram of fruit and only 600 (or was it 500?) grams is the result.  But  cooked it I did and I will teasure my three jars.

But next up it will be the easier cordial or syrup.
