Dusk waterings

sunflowersAh yes, it’s that lovely dusk watering again. Well, dark actually.   But I wanted to get a bit done tonight so that the plants won’t be too parched. Another day of 34C so not the best for the vegetable garden.

I arrived this afternoon and managed to multi task my way into unpacking, wading through the dust (house renovations), saving seedlings, watering tomatoes, wandering about in a happy daze, and generally feeling delighted to be here. potager late june

marrows in proportionThe real work starts tomorrow, but I did go through the vegetable garden and pluck oversized runner beans and the mightiest marrows I’ve ever seen.

This is what ten days absence will do.   We have actually had 30 mm of rain some time during this past week, and I can see the benefits. Weeds everywhere.

tomatoes late juneBut the tomatoes are alive (just) and I will attend to them later.   I actually had to get the mower out and tame the wilderness that is the lawn.   Heaps of tall weeds to mow there.   And I did the track and orchard just to get things into proportion.   I would have done more, but time ran out.

Still, things look almost presentable, which is not bad for a few hours work. lawn late june
