A well earned lunch

first terrace strimmedI behaved like a perfect French peasant today.  Start work at 8 and down tools at 1230. Commute home to lunch. Luckily for me the commmute was brief, I have been finishing off the work on the lower terrace and east garden today.

And boy have I earned my lunch.  The steep bank of the terrace is done. (Including some quite hairy bits of trying to hold onto a strimmer blade while surfing slowly downhill in work boots.)

And I have even managed to get the mower onto the vast flat bits.  The pictures will look dull as the ground is so dry and parched.  So I’ll make them thumbnail sized.  If you are madly keen you can click and enlarge. mown first terrace

But I suspect only those who strim appreciate the work involved.

strimmed east gardenThe weather today is cloudy and not baking hot, so I was able to surge on up to the east garden where I reduced the waist high weeds to scalped in no time.

That looks so much better. And I made sure not to put the mower too much to the flat bits as there are hundreds of thyme plants just coming into flower. east garden trees

And of course there is stlil the raking to do.  But that’s less sweaty and noisy.  I’ll attend as soon as I’ve finished lunch.
