Forest mushrooms – a christmas surprise

How about this for a mad christmas surprise? We went for a wonderful long walk around the mountain yesterday. An appropriate yomp to earn our massive meal of treats.

And David was just talking about how he goes mushrooming on this part of the mountain in summer when Lauren looked down and said ‘ you mean these mushrooms?’

A carpet of chanterelles!  In December. Nay, on Christmas day.

They are about to be consumed with bacon and eggs.
